Priory Meadow
Constructed on the site of the Central Cricket Ground by Boots Properties, the shopping centre has had a number of prime occupiers such as BHS, Marks and Spencer, New Look and many other, smaller stores.
Prior to construction and opening of the centre, the Borough Council issued a confidential report stating that the cost of attracting 'Anchor Tenants' - high profile stores - could outstrip the estimates for marketing the units to retailers. This report was leaked to the Hastings & St. Leonards Observer in December of 1993, resulting in a spokesperson for Boots stating that, subject to the various compulsorary purchase orders going through, ground was going to be broken late in 1994 and they were confident in being able to attract the necessary tenants to the £50 million development[1].
Attached to the rear of the centre and accessed both from South Terrace and Station Road is a car park with (as of 2022) 1086 spaces. As of 2022, the centre is owned by the New River Completely Group and lettings of units managed by Colliers Estate Agents. On the 16th of January 2023, the centre was flooded as a result of heavy rainfall overnight overwhelming the Priory Stream culvert and closed whilst emergency services dealt with the scene.
