Boykett Breeds (1827-1892)

From Historical Hastings

A member of the Breeds family, Boykett was a staunch Conservative and regular church-goer at Emmanuel Church. Boykett started his life as a sea-man, but gave this up to work with his brothers, Charles and Alexander in the family business.

Boykett became a prominent auctioneer and merchant in the town, working in the family firm of Messrs. B. Breeds and Sons of George Street, the partnership being dissolved just prior to his death on the 16th of September 1892[1].

At the time of his death, he was resident at 61 Vicarage Road; having suffered from what was reported as a painful disease for some time. He is buried in Guestling churchyard.[2]
