Located at the top of High Wickham, this property was built in 1891 by a distinguished Greek man named Ionides on the sites of 14 & 15 High Wickham, which he had purchased in 1882 and 1880 respectively[1]. Following the marriage of his daughter to Edward Dannreuther (1844-1905), a renowned musician, and the death of Mr. Ionides' widow, the property came into the hands of the Dannreuthers as a holiday home. The house suffered a fire in 1911, leaving part of the building badly damaged. There are records of the repairs held by Hastings Museum[1].

Following Edward's death in 1905[2], the property passed to his son, Capt T. Dannreuther, R. N., an entymologist, then to Rear-Admiral Hubert Edward Dannreuther, DSO (1880-1977). In 1978, there were plans to convert the property into a registered mental home, but this was refused[3] Grade II* Listed (Historic England listing 1043472) The house features William Morris Wallpaper designs.
