Sussex Hotel

From Historical Hastings

Formerly known as Sussex House (the name-change occurring on the 7th of February 1861[1]), the hotel was utilised in WW1 to house RAF Cadets, a known intake arriving on the 1st of August 1918[2]. In 1956, planning approval was given to convert the hotel into a retirement home, the building becoming known as 'Sussex House'[3]; the retirement home then becoming 9 self-contained flats by 2001[4] following a withdrawn application to convert back into a hotel[5].
