Springfield Nursery

From Historical Hastings

The Springfield Nursery was located at the lower end of Paul's Field at the junction of Old London Road and Ashburnham Road from 1873 mapping[1]. The nursery was run by a Messrs Gilbert and Barham in 1866[2], later becoming just Thomas Gilbert by 1871[3] until 1896, when the property on the nursery was sold at auction to a Mr Blackman[4] By 1897, the nursery has disappeared from mapping, being replaced by an access track and surrounded by properties on both sides.[5]
