Opened in 1908 as part of the rapidly growing Fire Brigade.
This station housed a steam pump originally, then the first motorised fire-engine in the borough - 'Mary' arrived in 1920[1]. This had a reported top speed of around 60MPH and bore the registration DY1898[2].
