Lady Frances ("Fanny") Jocelyn (1820-1880) was born Frances Elizabeth Cowper on 9th February 1820 in London, the daughter of Peter Leopold Cowper, 5th Earl Cowper and the Honourable Emily Mary Lamb. Fanny had been a lady-in-waiting at Queen Victoria’s coronation in 1837 and a bridesmaid at Queen Victoria’s wedding to Prince Albert.[1]
She moved to White Rock Villa in 1858 where she developed an interest in photography.[2] She was a founding member of the Royal Photographic Society and an accomplished photographer.[1]. Jocelyn outlived both her husband and all four of their children, dying at Cannes in 1880[3].
