Born in St. Pancras, London during 1845, Henry William Ashdown was a photographer active in the town certainly between 1858 and 1867[1][2]. At the time of the 1861 Census, he resided at 29 White Rock with his wife, Margaret, and three children (Henry William aged 16, Margaret aged 24 and Eliza Jarrett, 24). They had one servant, a Theresa Ann Ford (aged 18)[3], with his business operating out of 21 White Rock.
