The Clock House is in Maze Hill. Built in 1828 by James Burton this was the 'town clock' of Burton's St Leonards as well as a private residence, known as Glenside House in 1872[1].

In 1965, there was a planning application to demolish the building and replace it with a block of elderly persons flats. Fortunately this application was refused on the grounds that the building was an 'intrinsic part of the Burton St. Leonards landscape'[2]. A further application was made a decade later to restore the building and convert it into five flats. This application was passed, however one condition was made that the outside appearance of the building be left unchanged from the original design[3]. It is unknown at present whether this actually took place. Grade II Listed (Historic England listing {{{2}}})
