The Bishop of Bombay resided at St. Helen's Lodge prior to his death in 1874. His funeral was held at the Hastings Cemetery on Thursday, the 26th of June 1874. The funeral cortege left his home at 2:30 and comprised a four-horse carriage and four two-horse carriages that conveyed his many mourners, along with many private carriages. The ceremony was carried out by the vicar of St. Mary In The Castle, the Rev. T. Vores and had a congregation containing many local clergymen, more than a few of the mourners being reduced to tears during the ceremony[1].
