Royal Victoria Library
From Historical Hastings
(Redirected from Southall's Marine Library)
Also known as Southall's Marine Library[1] - named for its proprietor - Charles H. Southall. Southall gained permission to utilise the name 'Royal Victoria' for the library from the Dutchess of Kent in 1834 - the Dutchess being accompanied by the Princess Victoria[2]. The library was subsequently taken over by a Mr. Dorman by 1867, becoming Dorman's Victoria Library[3].
