The Silverhill Club, a working-mans club, located at Silverhill Junction on Sedlescombe Road South opened in 1893. Originally, the club occupied the ground floor of the premises with the upper floor leased to other businesses, including a cinema between 1910 and 1920. The first floor, and attic (which contains the ladies toilet) are now occupied by the club, with a rear extension being added in 1969[1] and alterations made to the entrance in 1988[2]. A dormer extension was incorporated in 1995 to provide for the first floor function room and extensions to bar areas[3], although an additional request for an extension over the rear flat roof was denied upon appeal in 1995[4]
