Priscilla McBean
From Historical Hastings
Reportedly the sister vessel to the Mary Stanford of Rye, Priscilla McBean was stationed at Eastbourne between 1921 and 1926, then relocated to Maryport between 1931 and 1934 before she was retired from public service. She was then in private ownership, ultimately being renamed Laurita in 1947 on Lake Windermere[1]. She was then relocated to Hastings and repainted back into her lifeboat livery.
She was a 35ft x 8ft 6in self-righting motor craft constructed by J. Samuel White & Co. Ltd[1].
In 2024 to ensure preservation of both her and the Cyril and Lilian Bishop displayed nearby both vessels were relocated to the Shipwreck Museum[2].
