A large property on the northern side of Sedlescombe Road North constructed circa 1872 (the site was certainly laid out by that year; mapping showing the gardens, and an advertisement for a cook being published by the houseowners in 1877[1]), now accessed via Hollinghurst Avenue.
In 1880, a death notice is published for Mary Jane, the wife of Philip Eagles aged 36 years old[2]. By 1896, Philip would appear to have re-married; a further notice is published seeking a cook and house parlour-maid by a Mrs. Philip Eagles[3]. The house gave up much of its gardens to build the surrounding houses between 1962 and 1987.
