Lime Kilns

Lime Kilns situated mainly in the vicinity of Wellington Square prior to the 1800s were utilised to produce the building material Lime by the heating of chalk. The chalk was bought in by ship from near Beachy Head and production was stated to be some 120,000 bushels[1] by Parry.[2]
