Coming to Hastings as a child, Harold Stephenson was a councillor, active in Freemasonry and leading member of Hastings & St Leonards Chess Club and assistant head teacher of St Mary In The Castle School where he had also been a pupil in his childhood. Post-retirement he seems to have been involved with the Sandringham Hotel being listed as proprietor for a number of years.[1]
