Black Arches
From Historical Hastings
The three black arches on the western slopes of the East Hill feature in many local legends. Indeed they appear in the first guide-book to the town in 1794, however are not included in a list of local antiquities. The most likely explanation for these is that they were carved by John Coussens (1750-1836)[1]
