Alma Terrace Eiffel Tower
During the Covid 19 lockdown, a man living in Alma Terrace constructed a twenty foot high replica of the Eiffel Tower at the front of his property. This was triggered partly because he and his wife were unable to travel to Paris for their wedding anniversary due to the Covid restrictions. The construction involved some six hundred wooden pieces and around 1,200 screws to complete in September of 2020. Over the christmas period, it was illuminated. A planning enforcement notice was served on the couple to remove the structure, but in light of the couple both contracting Covid, enforcement officers opted to permit the structure to remain until spring 2021[1].
On the 2nd of May, 2021, it was announced that the tower would be sold and the proceeds donated to the following charities: Save The Children, Mind UK and Beat Eating Disorders[2].
