Boots Chemist

From Historical Hastings

Boots are a nationwide pharmacy chain that in the 1970s had two shops within Hastings (one at 15-16 Queen's Road and another in Robertson Street), with a third in London Road , St. Leonards.

At some point in the early 1900s and certainly prior to 1906 the Robertson Street property was bought by 'Boots' the Dispensing Chemists, who in 1908 purchased the business called the Sussex Drug Company (operating at nearby 10 Robertson Street) and subsumed it into there own more commodious premises at No 17-19. The business remained trading at this location until the mid 1990s when a brand new store was built in the Priory Meadow Shopping Centre, Boots being one of the Anchor tenants, along with Marks and Spencer. The Robertson Street address is now owned by a digital experience company called 'Holograph'
