Template:Inflation

This template attempts to calculate the modern-day value of items (it draws on data provided by the Bank of England Inflation Calculator) for years between 1750 and the year 2000. To utilise, find the year of interest in the table, then using the formula Tv = Pv * CYI / PYI where Tv = Todays Value, Pv = Past Value, CYI = Current Year Index and PYI = Previous Year's index.

The template takes two numeric inputs as follows:- {{Inflation|Year to Convert|Amount}} and inserts a note showing current value in the footer of the page. (please note this calculator only works on decimal pounds currently so pre-decimalisation values will need to be converted)

For example with a value of 100.00 in 1923 we get:- {{Inflation|1923|100}} returns the following value:- (3592.51 in 2000) and 1910 gives us (6997.92 in 2000)
