The winter of 1962 is worthy of mention. In Hastings, the snow reportedly started to snow on the 26th of December; this continued until the 22nd of February 1963. Snow cleared from the roads was piled at Rock-a-Nore - this did not thaw fully for some months - lasting until June of 1963.
