In 1884, Silverlea was occupied by a Miss Price who ran a Protestant finishing school for young ladies.
Later the building at 45 Chapel Park Road became the residence of Mr Samuel Hall, Knt. M.A.K.C
Sir Samuel Hall, Knt.M.A.K.C. of Silverlea, St Leonards-on-Sea, Bencher of the Middle Temple, London.[1] w Later, John Hall, brother of the late Sir Samuel Hall, K.C. is recorded as being at the property. John's will reads as follows:-
..During the life of his nieces, the Misses Alice Hall and Mary Jane Hitchen, or the survivor of them, his residuary estate is to be accumulated at compound interest, and on the decease of the survivor, he left £40,000 £40,000 to the Victoria University, Manchester, in memory of his brother, Sir Samuel Hall, K.C., formerly Vice-Chancellor of the County Palatine of Lancaster, as to £20,000 for a Samuel Hall Professorship in Chemistry, £15,000 for a Samuel Hall Professorship in Philosophy, £2,500 for not more than two Samuel Hall Scholarships in Philosophy, and £2,500 for not less than two Samuel Hall Scholarships in Chemistry. The ultimate residue he left for John Hall Scholarships.
Mary and Alice then moved into the property, dying on the 10th of March, 1933 and the 19th of May 1950 respectively.
