La Dolce Vita

From Historical Hastings

For a very short period during 1971, the Dolphin Ballroom and bingo club became an X-rated members-only cinema club. Opening with the controversial film "Flesh", each programme consisted of uncensored continental blue movies. The club was open six nights per week, but closed on Sundays - the bingo taking precedence. Almost as soon as the cinema opened, a similar club opened in Hastings - the Eros Cinema Club (later known as 'Venus'). Additionally the adult oriented Orion was considering turning its repertoire to adult movies. Ultimately the club closed without any flourish within the year.
