Kings Road Sorting Office

From Historical Hastings

The Kings Road sorting office served St Leonards was located next to Warrior Square Railway Station. An advert was printed in the 12 September 1885 Hastings & St Leonards Observer looking for builders to erect "an iron sorting office, at the Railway Station, St Leonards". It is unclear exactly when the sorting office was constructed, but it was in operation by the early 1890s.[1]

By the 1970s parcels addressed to St Leonards were handled at the Parcel Sorting Office in Hatherley Road (now the Seaview Project).[2] By the 1980s the building had become in a bad state and operations was moved to a warehouse at Drury Lane in May 1990.
